School of Veterinary Medicine

Innovation. Discovery. Training. Transformation.

Philanthropy has played a vital role in advancing medical research, training professionals, improving patient care, and driving innovation at the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine. From healing cats and dogs to caring for birds, cows, and horses, our collaborative research environment brings together students, clinicians, and scholars in more than 40 clinical specialties.

Generous gifts toward research have led to improvements in areas such as cancer treatment, infectious disease control, and genetic disorders in animals. Moreover, many discoveries in veterinary medicine have paved the way for innovations in human healthcare, illustrating the interconnectedness of medical research across species boundaries.

Donors, grateful clients, alumni, and community partners have contributed millions of dollars to support students through scholarships and fellowships, including the 75th Anniversary Endowed Scholarship Fund, which will help ensure the next generation of veterinarians graduate with lower debt and flexibility in their career paths.

In 2024, we welcomed our first patients to the new Advanced Veterinary Surgery Center, a state-of-the-art orthopedic surgery space that is entirely donor-funded. This new facility is equipped with the latest technology, allowing us to provide the best training to the veterinarians of tomorrow. Other enhancements at the Pritchard Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital include an expanded ER and ICU, as well as the new Meadowview Foundation Dental and Oral Surgery Suite and Feline Treatment and Housing Suite.

Looking ahead to 2025, we are excited to celebrate two major openings: the All Species Imaging Center, which will be staffed by the largest veterinary diagnostic team in the world, and the new Janice K. Hobbs UC Davis Veterinary Medical Center Southern California, a 23,000-square-foot facility that will allow us to help even more animals and take our research and clinical collaborations to the next level.
